The Institute has now been training a cohort of narrativists in the Romanian city of Iași (pronounced ‘yash’) for some years now. This first group is nearing the end of the process and some 10 students are in line to receive the Diploma in the next 18 months. This has been organised in co-operation with local organisation Psiterra. Iași of course is where the 3rd Europe+ Conference of Narrative Therapy and Community Work was held in 2014, and it was organised by students on the Insitute’s training.
As well as the training the Romanian organisers have generously provided a range of experiences of Romania including visiting painted churches and climbing mountains. This has been a good experience for principal trainer Hugh Fox who says”It’s been great over the years to get to know the people in Iași and also to get out into the countryside and mountains. I’m proud to be able to say that I have been rock-climbing on two occasions in Romania”
